South of Valdez Alaska lays a small fishing community called Cordova, Alaska. Cordova is a land locked town. It can be accessed only by Boat or by plane. The Alaskan Ferries stop about once a day. It is one of the only true Alaskan townships left that haven’t been disturbed by the tourist industry. There is a road that is about 45 miles long that goes out of town into the Copper River Delta, and stops. Along that road is an abundance of wildlife. A little offshoot goes up into an area that has a stream full of spawning salmon. Along this stream is where I found this Wonderful Eagle. He sat there and posed for me for around 30 minutes. The whole time while shooting, I was very nervous. Because of the spawning salmon, so were there many of hungry bear. A few times I was interrupted and had to return to my truck because of a bear was approaching me. So I took as many pictures as I thought I could…then I left! I do not want to become that part of the food chain. |
